Study Model

1 comment:

  1. These study models are interesting, but they are purely formal (they only talk about the building's shape). It might be interesting to now start thinking about how the building is organized inside, and to use the same "beehive" logic to start thinking about the spaces that a print and media library would need. I would love to see some models or diagrams regarding that connection. I would also love to hear how the "logic of the beehive" is informing your design decisions. A few diagrams would be helpful here as well. Linking the shape of the building to the idea about how spaces need to be organized would be a direct reference to the OMA Seattle library you studied. Maybe you could take a closer look at the diagrams for that building. You should also think about how the dense versus less dense areas of the facade are organized based on what program would do better with less or more light. For instance, the stacks are usually kept at a somewhat lower light level than the reading rooms and a media library might require even less light than that.
