Tower Of Tomorrow

This is another study model for the library. It was done in Rhino to make the curves in order to create an abstract shape and 3D max for the beehive patterns to relate the building with my concept.

Conceptual Model

Beehive Section

This is my new study model. I divide the shape into four different levels. the very top level of the building which you can see that windows/blocks are solid black because that will be the theater and others will be use for public spaces.

Site

Site that i'm choosing will be Manhattan site, because i believe that Manhattan site has better views and it's on Historical district surrounded by different stores. It's also near F.D.R. drive and East River.

BEEHIVE CONCEPT

BEEHIVE IS AN ENCLOSED STRUCTURE IN WHICH SOME SPECIES OF HONEY BEES GENERALLY LIVE AND RAISE THEIR YOUNG. THE BEEHIVE'S INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL STURCTURE IS A DENSELY PACKED MATRIX OF HEXAGONAL CELLS MADE OF BEESWAX CALLED HONEY COMB. BEES USE THESE CELLS TO STORE FOOD (HONEY AND POLLEN) AND TO HOUSE THE "BROOD" SUCH AS EGGS.

SINCE MY CONCEPT IS BASED ON BEEHIVE, I'LL BE LOOKING AT THE HEXAGONAL GEOMETRY, AS WELL AS PATTERNS OF NATURAL BEE AND HOW THE BEEHIVE WORKS WITH MY LIBRARY DESIGN. A LIBRARY HAS CLASSES INSIDE OF IT AND READING ROOMS AS WELL WHICH IS SIMILAR TO BEEHIVE THAT KEEPS THE BEES INSIDE ALONG WITH THE HONEY THEY MAKE AND THE EGGS THEY LAY.
